Man Shot Inside Home On Sunset Lake Road In Newark

Newark– The Delaware State Police are investigating a shooting that took place at a Newark area residence late Monday night, according to Public Information Officer, Senior Corporal Heather Pepper.

Pepper said at approximately 11:00 p.m., Monday, April 6, 2020, Troopers responded to the 2000 block of Sunset Lake Rd. in Newark in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, they located a 33-year-old man inside the residence who had sustained a single gunshot wound to his torso. He was subsequently transported to an area hospital where he is being treated for his injuries.

The initial investigation has determined the male victim was home alone when he heard a knock at the door. When he opened the door he observed two male subjects standing outside the residence and one shot him, said Pepper.

The only suspect information known at this time is the one suspect is believed to be a white male and the other is believed to be a black male. No clothing or vehicle description is known at this time.
