Woman Charged With Assaulting Georgetown Police Officer

A Georgetown woman has been arrested for Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, Terroristic Threatening, and other related charges, according to Public Information Officer Detective Joey Melvin.

Melvin said the incident occurred at approximately 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2020. Georgetown Police responded to the Dunbarton Oaks Apartment complex for a domestic-related complaint. Upon arriving, officers contacted a 39-year-old victim who advised the suspect, Erica Davis, had assaulted her.

Officers made contact with the suspect, at which time Davis threw an alcoholic beverage that struck an officer on the leg. Davis again attempted to assault the victim, at which time officers took her into custody, according to melvin. While in custody, Davis continuously spit towards and made attempts to assault officers. Davis was transported to Georgetown Police Department for processing and arraignment.

Erica Davis, 27 of Georgetown, was charged with the following:

Assault 2nd degree
Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer
Terroristic Threatening
Offensive Touching of a Law Enforcement Officer
Criminal Trespass
Davis was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of $23,100 secured bond.
