Police Make Arrest In The Shooting Of A 54-Year-Old Claymont Man

County Police say they have made an arrest a shooting that occurred in Claymont on Saturday night.

Officials said at 8:10 p.m., patrol officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the area of 4th Avenue, in the community of Overlook Colony for the report of a shooting that had just occurred.

When the officers arrived, they found a 54-year-old man suffering from what they say was a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his upper torso.

Police officials said that the victim was transported to a local area hospital for treatment.

Officials said detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police Criminal Investigations Unit have assumed the investigation.

Yesterday, May 20, the investigation, supported by cooperation from the community, lead the detectives to apprehend 21-year-old Quishyne Jackson and arrest him for this shooting, police said Thursday.

Jackson was transported to NCCPD Headquarters and charged with one count of felony Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, two counts of felony Possession of a Firearm By a Person Prohibited, one count of felony Assault 2nd, and two counts of felony Reckless Endangering.

He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 11 and held in lieu of $90,000 cash bail.
