Two Seriously Injured In Newark ATV Accident

At approximately 6:08 this afternoon, New Castle County Paramedics, along with emergency personnel from Christiana Fire Company, Aetna Hook Hose and Ladder Fire Company, as well as Delaware State Police Aviation was dispatched to the 900 block of Old Baltimore Pike for an incident involving an all-terrain vehicle.

Upon arrival, New Castle County Paramedics found two patients, one adult male, and one pediatric female that required advanced life support care. The adult male was treated on scene by New Castle County Paramedics for a suspected spinal injury and later flown to Christiana Care Hospital Emergency Room via Delaware Stated Police Aviation. The pediatric female was treated on the scene for a suspected loss of consciousness and possible neck injury. The female patient was later transported to Christiana Care Hospital Emergency Room via Aetna Hook Hose and Ladder Fire Company ambulance and accompanied by New Castle County Paramedics. Both patients were in stable condition during transport.

Initial reports from the scene indicate that two ATVs collided at around 50 MPH.
