Horrific Crash On Route 40 Leaves Young Man Seriously Injured

At approximately 6:05 this morning, New Castle County Paramedics and surrounding fire companies were dispatched to the intersection of Pulaski Highway and Walther Road for a motor vehicle crash, according to Paramedic Corporal Yvonne Russell.

Russell said upon arrival, New Castle County Paramedics found one patient, a 22-year-old-male, confined to his vehicle. Fire personnel utilized special equipment to remove the patient from the vehicle after about 10 minutes. The patient suffered injuries to his head, face, chest, abdomen, and pelvis.

He was transported to Christiana Hospital via Christiana Fire Company ambulance accompanied by New Castle County Paramedics. The patient was in serious condition at the time of transport, said Russell.

Delaware State Police is investigating the crash.
