Police Confirm Woman Found Dead In Boxwood, Details Few

New Castle County Police (NCCPD) confirm that the body of a woman was found in the community of Boxwood on Friday.

NCCPD Spokesman M/Cpl. Michel Eckerd said officers were dispatched to the intersection of Laura Court and Champlain Ave for the report of a female lying in the roadway. When the officers arrived, they observed that the female had no signs of life.

When EMTs From the nearby Belevedere Fire Company arrived on scene they confirmed that the woman was deceased, according to initial radio traffic.

Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police Criminal Investigations Unit and the Traffic Services Unit arrived at the scene and have assumed the investigation.

Eckerd said the investigation is ongoing and that future updates will follow, however,  he did not provide any details regarding the woman’s death.

Just after 6:30 this morning officers with the New Castle County Police, Paramedics, along EMTs From the nearby Belevedere Fire Company responded to Laura Court in Wilmington.

Initial reports from the scene indicate that crews were dispatched to the area for a person lying in a yard suffering an unknown medical condition.

Photos sent to First State Update show Laura Court cordoned off with yellow police tape and medical staff standing several yards away from the patient.

Police have yet to release details regarding the incident.
