Video: Fire Rips Though Newark Home Friday Morning

Newark – Just after 3:00  Friday morning firefighters from Aetna Hose, Hook, and Ladder along with crews from Mill Creek, Christiana, and Cranston Heights Fire Companies were dispatched the unit block of Milkweed Court in the Maple Square Mobile Home Park for a home on fire.

Upon arrival, crews reported fire showing from the home. Initial reports from the scene indicate that firefighters were having a difficult time searching the home due to deteriorating floor conditions.

At one point during the incident, a neighbor in an adjacent home and a firefighter were evaluated by EMTs on the scene.  It’s not clear if either patient was transported to the hospital.

Local residents tell First State Update that two other homes were also damaged by the fire.

Crews remained on scene Friday morning for just under two hours working to mop up hot spots.

Fire Marshals are investigating the incident. We will update this story when more information is released.
