Troopers: Man Followed 10-Year-Old Girl Home, Entered Her Home Released On Unsecured Bond

Georgetown– The Delaware State Police have arrested 36-year-old Luis Perez-Gonzalez of Georgetown on burglary and theft charges, according to Public Information Officer, Senior Corporal Heather Pepper.

Pepper said on June 30, 2020, at approximately 4:57 p.m., troopers were dispatched to a suspicious person complaint in the Fish Hook Mobile Home Park in Georgetown. Upon arrival, troopers made contact with residents on Leah Street. It was discovered a 10-year-old girl rode her bicycle to the community mailboxes when she was followed by Perez-Gonzalez.

When she left the mailboxes, Perez-Gonzalez followed her on foot back to her residence and remained standing outside. The juvenile was extremely frightened by Perez-Gonzalez’s behavior and informed her parents of the incident, according to Pepper. A few minutes after returning inside, Perez-Gonzalez entered the residence through the front door while the family was home and witnessed by a 4-year-old juvenile inside, removing keys hanging up inside, said Pepper. Perez-Gonzalez was still standing outside of the residence when the keys were discovered missing, When troopers arrived on the scene, Perez-Gonzalez was contacted in the area of the home and taken into custody without incident.

He was transported to Troop 4 and charged with the following crimes:

Burglary 2nd Degree (Felony)
Theft under $1500
Perez-Gonzalez was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court and released on a $3,000.00 unsecured bond.
