Dover AFB Airman Killed In Motorcycle Accident Friday

Dover – The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 5:36 p.m., Friday, August 07, 2020 on the Puncheon Run Connector, according to Public Information Officer, Corporal/1 Jason Hatchell.

Hatchell said the investigation has determined a Red Honda CBR 900R motorcycle operated by a 20-year-old male from Wilmington, NC, was traveling eastbound on the Puncheon Run Connector at a high rate of speed approaching a left curve. The operator failed to negotiate the curve due to his high speed and traveled off the south edge of the roadway and struck a guardrail.

The 20-year-old victim was pronounced deceased at the collision scene. He is an active member of the United States Air Force Base assigned to the Dover Air Force Base. His name is being withheld at this time pending the notification of next of kin.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into this incident.

The Puncheon Run Connector was closed for approximately 3 hours during the investigation.
