Mother In Georgetown Amber Alert Taken Into Custody

Woman wanted by Georgetown Police after Amber Alert has been arrested.

Angelina Lopez, 26, of Seaford, Delaware, was arrested on August 19, 2020 after turning herself into Georgetown Detectives.

Lopez was originally charged with child abuse on June 5, 2020. As a result of Lopez’s arrest, she was issued a no-contact order with her 2-year-old son and permitted supervised visitation.

On July 25, 2020, Lopez arranged to visit her son and subsequently stayed overnight at the residence. During the early morning hours of July 26, 2020, Lopez took her son and fled to California, according to the police. An Amber Alert was issued for the child and a warrant created for Lopez. Through investigation, the child was successfully located in Pasadena, California. Lopez was not with her son at the time he was found.

On August 19, 2020, Angelina Lopez turned herself into Detectives at Georgetown Police Department. She was charged with Felony Non-Compliance with Bond Conditions. Lopez was processed and arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court #3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institute in lieu of a $50,000 cash bond.

The two-year-old Georgetown boy has been found safe after an Amber Alert was issued for his abduction on July 27, 2020.

Georgetown Detectives, with assistance from local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, have located 2-year-old Cristobal Lopez. Cristobal Lopez was last seen on July 25, 2020, on South Front Street in Georgetown, while in the custody of a family member. Cristobal Lopez was placed in the care of a family member after his mother, Angelina Lopez, was charged with child abuse on June 5, 2020 officials said Friday. Angelina was limited to supervised visitation with Cristobal and had arranged to stay at her cousin’s house overnight on July 25, 2020. On Sunday, July 26, 2020, the cousin had discovered that Angelina had abducted Cristobal.

Through the investigation, Georgetown Detectives, in collaboration with multiple law enforcement agencies, discovered that Cristobal had been transported from Delaware to California. On August 7, 2020, at the request of Georgetown Police, Pasadena Police Department Detectives executed a search warrant at a residence on the 600 block of Los Robles Avenue in Pasadena, California. Pasadena Detectives located Cristobal safely inside the residence.

Angelina Lopez has not been located, and this investigation remains active. Angelina Lopez currently has an active warrant for felony breach of release by the Georgetown Police Department.

Delaware State Police, Delaware Capitol Police, Delaware Department of Justice, Homeland Security Investigations (Delaware Office), National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel Police, West Palm Beach Police, F.B.I. Baltimore-Wilmington Field Office, and the Pasadena Police Department were all involved in the investigation.
