Police: Crime Victim Tracks Down Thief, Holds Him For Police

Harrington – On Saturday, August15, 2020, the Harrington Police Department arrested Caleb C. Grant 24, of Harrington after police respond to a report of a fight in progress, according to police.

Officials said while on patrol at 1:29 pm, police were contacted about a fight in progress on Grant Street in the area of Dorman Street. Officers arrived on scene and found Grant being held on the ground by another subject, who police later determined to be the victim in the theft.

Both parties were separated and police began their investigation. During the course of the investigation, officers determined that the victim was in his residence when he observed Grant walk past his vehicle that was parked on Dorman Street. The victim then left his residence and got into his vehicle to leave. Once inside his vehicle the victim determined that a wallet was missing and began to search the area locating Grant walking on Dorman Street.

The victim then held Grant until the police arrived. Police took Grant into custody and recovered the stolen wallet and some of the money that was stolen, according to police.

Grant was then transported to the Harrington Police Department where he was charged with Burglary Third Degree and Theft under $1,500. He was arraigned via video phone at Justice of the Peace Court 7 and was released on unsecured bond pending a future court appearance.
