DSU Student Shot Dead At Massive Party In Dover, Second Victim Hospitalized

The Dover Police Department is investigating a shooting that killed a 20-year-old man and injured a 22-year-old man, according to Public Information Office Sergeant Mark Hoffman.

Hoffman said at approximately 9:39 p.m., officers responded to the City of Dover’s Schutte Park for reports of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers located Devin Wright (20) with a gunshot wound to his head. Wright was transported by EMS to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries. The second victim was struck in his shoulder and hand and was also treated at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital.

During the investigation, it was learned that the victims were attending a party with mostly students from Delaware State University at Schutte Park. There were approximately 300-500 people present when a shootout occurred between multiple suspects. Devin Wright was a student at Delaware State University.
