Just In: Residents, Pets Escaped Early Morning House Fire In Bear

Bear – Just before 6:20 this morning, Saturday, September 12, 2020, firefighters from the Christiana Fire Company along with mutual aid from several area fire companies responded to a house fire in the 100 block of Dorothy Drive in Hickory Woods.

While en route crews learned that a garage at the home was reported to be on fire and that the homeowner was in the home search for pets.

Shortly after the first report crews learned that a police officer on scene was reporting fire showing from the home. All occupants and pets were also reported out of the home.

First arriving crews confirmed heavy fire showing from the garage with extension into the home.

As firefighters began their attack on the fire they simultaneously searched the home and confirmed that all occupants were out.

At 6:40 Christiana Command reported that the fire in the garage had been knocked down and that crews were chasing fire that had extended into the wall of the home.

Fire Marshals have also responded to the scene to determine the origin of the fire.

At the time of this post, firefighters are still on scene working to mop up hotspots.

This is a developing story. Additional details will be provided as they become available.
