Officials Update Crash That Seriously Injured Two On Friday

At approximately 11:00 Friday morning, New Castle County Paramedics and surrounding fire companies were dispatched to the intersection of Christiana Bypass and University Plaza for a motor vehicle crash, according to Paramedic Corporal Yvonne Russell.

Russell said upon arrival, New Castle County Paramedics found two patients in need of advanced life support care. Both patients were confined to the vehicle and fire personnel utilized specialized equipment to remove the patients.

The first patient, a 70-year-old-female, suffered injuries to her head, chest, arm, and leg. The second patient, a 73-year-old-male, suffered injuries to his head and abdomen. Both patients were treated on scene and transported to Christiana Hospital via Christiana Fire Company ambulance accompanied by New Castle County Paramedics in serious condition.

Delaware State Police is investigating the crash.

Breaking Report

Just before 11:00 Friday morning rescue crews from the Christiana, Wilmington Manor, and Cranston Heights and Fire Companies along with New Castle County Medics, Aetna HH&L, and Delaware State Police responded to University Plaza for a motor vehicle accident with injuries.

Arriving crews found a vehicle off the road in the shopping center parking lot, reporting two patients trapped.

Crews worked for roughly 45 minutes before clearing the incident.

At least two patients were transported to Christiana Hospital with undetermined injuries.

It’s not clear if the were any injuries in the second vehicle that also partially left the roadway. ( Pictured below)

As of 1:30 pm State Police were still on scene investigating.
