Teen Driver Succumbs To Injures After Striking Tree On Grubb Road

Wilmington– Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 11:21 p.m., Wednesday, September 09, 2020, on Grubb Road east of Foulk Road.

Officials said the initial investigation has determined a 2009 Nissan Altima, driven by a 17-year-old male from Wilmington, was traveling westbound Grubb Road at a high rate of speed. The operator failed to maintain control of the vehicle and left the roadway. The vehicle spun out of control until it struck a tree where it came to a final rest.

The driver of the Altima who was not wearing a seatbelt was pronounced deceased at the scene. His name is being withheld at this time pending the notification of next of kin.

Grubb Road was closed for approximately 4 hours while the investigation was completed and the roadway was cleared.
