Woman Dragged Under Car After Driver Pepper Sprayed, Brick Thrown Through Window

The Dover Police Department is investigating an incident that occurred in the 400 Block of Collins Drive on Tuesday night, according to Public Information Office
Sergeant Mark Hoffman.

Hoffman said officers responded to a residence in the area at approximately 11:03 p.m. after receiving multiple 911 calls for a disorderly crowd. Upon arrival, officers learned that there had been a party at a residence on Collins Drive.

During this party, a group of subjects attempted to fight another party-goer. This person contacted a female family member to pick her up from the party. When the family member arrived, the group surrounded the vehicle, refusing to let the vehicle leave. During this time, a subject threw a brick through the rear window of the vehicle, said Hoffman. The family member exited the vehicle and was physically assaulted by three suspects.

The assault victim sustained injuries to her face and head area and was also sprayed with pepper spray. The victim, who was unable to see, entered her vehicle and fled the area in fear for her and the passenger’s safety.

As she fled in her vehicle, one of the assault suspects was struck and became stuck underneath the vehicle, causing her to be dragged for approximately 880 feet. The assault victim then exited the vehicle and ran to a friend’s residence in the area and called 911, remaining on scene for police arrival. The assault suspect who was struck was conscious and alert upon police arrival and is hospitalized at Kent General Hospital in stable condition. The assault suspect refused to speak with police about the incident when contacted at the hospital.
