Police: Barricaded Subject Charged After Hours Long Standoff

On Friday, October 16, 2020, officers from the Milford Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to a residence in the 200 block of Southeast 2nd Street to a report of a domestic situation involving a firearm, according to Sgt. Robert Masten.

When arriving officers asked Brandt Craft, 36, of Milford to exit the residence he refused to comply, according to Masten. After several hours of negotiation Craft eventually surrendered peacefully, exited the home, and was taken into custody.

This incident resulted in road closures in the area, neighbors being evacuated, and the assistance of the Delaware State Police Special Operations Response Team, Conflict Management, and Explosive Ordinance Disposal. Craft has been charged with Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Firearm by Person Prohibited, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and Aggravated Menacing. He was presented at the Justice of the Peace Court #3 in Georgetown, where bail was set at $82,000.00 cash.

Craft has been committed to the custody of the Delaware Department of Correction at the Sussex Correctional Institution. He is scheduled to appear at the Sussex County Court of Common Pleas on 10.21.2020 for a Preliminary Hearing.
