Firefighters Find Man Dead In Red Lion Home During Fire Friday

Red Lion – At 6:35 Friday morning firefighters from the Delaware City, Christiana, Goodwill, Odessa, Port Penn and Minquas Fire Companies were dispatched to the 3700 block of Kirkwood Saint Georges Road for reports of a house fire.

While en route crews learned that a resident was reporting that their neighbor’s house was on fire.

First to arrive, Deputy 15 from the Delaware City Fire Company, reported smoke coming from the eaves of the home.  Minutes later Deputy 15 reported that the occupant of the home was last seen last night but not seen this morning.

Shortly after their arrival, crews from Christiana’s Tower 12 reported that they had found a male occupant in the home who had succumbed. At 10 minutes into the incident, crews reported the search of the home was negative for additional victims.

Minutes later crews reported that the fire had been knocked down.  Command then ordered all additional responding crews to cover duties in the area.

Investigators from the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office are currently on scene investigating the cause of the fire.

New Castle County Paramedics also responded to assist at the scene.

This is a developing story.
