Six Displaced By Thursday Morning House Fire

Just before 4:40, Thursday morning firefighters from several Sussex County fire companies responded to the 17000 block of Coastal Highway for reports of a residential fire.

While en route crews learned that the caller reported a fire in the basement. First arriving crews reported a working fire in the basement.

As crews began their attack on the fire, Command ordered the road closed to allow access to the hydrant across the street.

Shortly after their arrival crews reported that the fire had been knocked down and that all the residents made it out of the home.

Command requested assistance from the Red Cross for six displaced residents, Two adults, two boys, and two girls.
