Brandywine Hundred House Fire Claims Life Early Thursday

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s office is investigating this morning’s house fire in Wilmington that heavily damaged a home, according to Assistant State Fire Marshal Michael Chionchio.

Chionchio said the blaze, reported shortly after 9:00 am, occurred in the 1200 block of Carr Road near Woodside Hills. The Brandywine Hundred Fire Company arrived on the scene with flames shooting from the one-story dwelling. As firefighters began their search of the home they discovered a male occupant inside. The patient was removed from the home allowing New Castle County Paramedics to administer medical treatment. The victim was later transported to Wilmington Hospital where he was pronounced deceased, according to Chionchio.

State fire investigators are on the scene searching for the fire’s origin and cause. Heavy fire damage was estimated at $200,000. There were no other injuries. This fire remains under investigation.
