Newark – Just after 4:15 Thursday afternoon Newark Police received calls reporting shots fired in the area of the One Easton apartment complex, behind the Newark Shopping Center.
Initial reports from the scene indicate that responding officers we’re searching for at least one suspect, possibly two. Radio traffic indicates that officers found a number of shell casings in the area.
Several police officers are currently at the scene and patrolling the surrounding area.
The University of Delaware notified its community with the following statement “The Newark Police Department is investigating a report of shots fired incident in the area of the One Easton apartment complex. The suspect fled the area in an unknown direction. Members of our community are reminded to be vigilant.”
