Troopers Make Arrest In Dover’s Rodney Village Fatal Shooting

Dover– The Delaware State Police have arrested 21-year-old Deon’te Reaves of Middle River, Maryland in connection with a homicide that occurred on October 2, 2020.

The investigation began on October 2, 2020, at approximately 7:03 p.m., when the Delaware State Police responded to the 200 block of David Hall Road for a reported shooting. Upon arrival, troopers located a 21-year-old Shakur A. Burrage of Dover deceased in a vehicle from an apparent gunshot wound to his upper body.

At the time police said they believed that a physical altercation between the victim and an unknown suspect occurred before the victim was shot and killed.

Through investigative measures, detectives were able to identify Deon’te Reaves as the suspect. On January 15, 2020, Reaves was charged with the following crimes:

Murder 1st Degree (felony)
Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (felony)
Reaves was extradited from Baltimore, Maryland, to Delaware State Police Troop 2 where he was processed and arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2. Reaves was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $1,060,000 cash bond.
