The Delaware State Police have arrested a Claymont man for robbery and related charges following an incident that occurred at the Dollar General in December 2020, according to Public Information Officer, Corpora/1 Jason Hatchell.

Hatchell said the incident occurred on December 15, 2020, at approximately 9:01 p.m., when Troopers were dispatched to the Dollar General located at 333 Naamans Road in Claymont for a report of a robbery. The suspect forced the victim to the rear of the sales counter where a second employee was working behind the cash register. The suspect held the two employees at gunpoint while they attempted to open the safe, according to Hatchell. The victims complied but were unsuccessful at opening the safe. The suspect then fled the scene on foot towards Hickman Drive.

Hatchell said through investigative leads troopers identified 38-year-old Keith Cannon as the suspect involved in the incident. On February 16, 2021, members of the Troop 2 Criminal Investigative Unit located Cannon in the parking lot of Troop 2 and took him into custody without incident.
