Police Identify Two Homicide Victims Found In Newark Friday

Earlier this morning (Feb 12) at approximately 6:15 am, patrol officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the unit block of Carlisle Road, in the community of Brookside for the report of a suspicious vehicle.

When the officers arrived at the scene, they observed two deceased male subjects inside of the vehicle. Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police Criminal Investigations Unit arrived at the scene and have assumed the investigation.

Officials said that the homicide victims are identified as 20-year-old Zyitae Britt and 19-year-old Elijah Covington.

β€œOn behalf of the men and women of the New Castle County Division of Police, I wish to express our condolences and prayers to the families who lost loved ones.” said Colonel Vaughn M. Bond, Jr., β€œI can assure our communities that we are working diligently to identify those responsible for this senseless crime.”
