Vehicle Launches Off Route 1 Into DelDOT Yard, Helo En Route

Middletown – Rescue crews from the Odessa Fire Company along with Middletown Police and Delaware State Police have responded to 729 Middletown Odessa Road for a motor vehicle accident.

Dispatchers have described the incident as a high-velocity crash.

Images from DelDOT traffic cameras show a vehicle that apparently left Route 1, drove up the embankment, and crashed through the fence at the DelDOT yard.

Tracks from the vehicle can be seen in the grass outside of the fenced area.

The vehicle appears to have rolled and is badly damaged.

One patient is being treated at the scene and awaiting Trooper 4’s arrival for transport. The helicopter will land in the DelDOT yard.

Update – Medics confirming that the vehicle rolled several times and hit several trees as it exited the road.

Update – Medics report that the patient self-extricate – injuries unknown – 9:58 am Trooper has landed at the trauma center with the patinet.
