Women Succumbs To Injuries Suffered In Crash Monday Night

Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred Monday evening, according to Public Information Officer, Corporal/1 Jason Hatchell.

Hatchell said on February 15, 2021, at approximately 6:39 p.m., a 2006 Toyota Camry was traveling southbound on Limestone Road (Route 7) approaching the intersection of Skyline Drive. A 2011 Toyota Camry was traveling southwest on Stoney Batter Road approaching the intersection with Limestone Road. For unknown reasons, the 2011 Camry traveled through a red traffic light at the intersection and crossed over northbound lanes of Limestone Road, according to Hatchell. The Camry continued to travel west and entered the southbound lanes of Limestone Road. The front of the 2006 Camry struck the right front side of the 2011 Camry. The impact caused the 2006 Camry to rotate clockwise until it struck a 2014 Toyota Tacoma stopped in the left tun lane of Skyline Drive.

The operator of the 2006 Toyota Camry, a 17-year-old female of Wilmington, DE, and the operator of the 2014 Toyota Tacoma, a 38-year-old male of Newark, DE, refused medical treatment at the scene.

The operator of the 2011 Toyota Camry, a 55-year-old female of Newark, DE, was transported to an area hospital where she succumbed to her life-threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased. Identification of the victim is pending notification to the next of kin.
