North Carolina Man Arrested After Monday Shooting In Wilmington

Wilmington Police have arrested and charged a 27-year-old North Carolina man in connection with Monday’s shooting incident.

On Monday, March 15 at approximately 11:52 a.m., police were called to the area of 4th and Adams Streets in reference to a shooting incident that had occurred. Police located a 28-year-old male gunshot victim, who was transported to the hospital in stable condition.

Officers arriving at the scene also located 27-year-old Benjamin Cole of Clayton, North Carolina; he was taken into custody without incident and a .45-caliber handgun was recovered, said police.

The case was assigned to Detective Kevin Murphy of the Criminal Investigations Division. As a result of the investigation, Cole has been charged with the following offenses:
Assault (First Degree)

Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $100,000 cash-only bail.
