Woman Stabbed To Death In Bear On Monday, Person Of Interest Identified

New Castle County Police are investigating a double stabbing that left a woman dead Monday.

Officials said yesterday at approximately 4:14 P.M., officers from the New Castle County Division of Police responded to the 400 block of County Road for a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers discovered a woman suffering multiple stab wounds. Although life-saving efforts were provided, the victim succumbed to her wounds.

Sources have told First State Update that the woman was fatally stabbed by someone known to her, however, police have yet to release the suspect’s information. All they would say is there is no further threat to the public and a person of interest has been identified. A man, believed to be a man in his 30’s, was later found on Soloman Drive suffering from what is described to First State Update as self-inflicted stab wounds. Those details have not been confirmed by the police or if the two incidents are related.

“On behalf of the men and women of the New Castle County Division of Police, I wish to express our condolences and prayers to the families who lost a loved one” stated Colonel Vaughn M. Bond, Jr., “I can assure our communities that we are working diligently to ensure that the culprit is held accountable for this senseless crime.

Officials said the investigation is in its early stages and is being handled by Detectives from the Homicide Squad.
