Lewes Police, DEA Investigation Leads To Multiple Arrests, Drug Seizure

Lewes Police wrapped up a months-long drug investigation with multiple arrests this week.

Lewes Police Chief Thomas Spell said that members of the Lewes Police Department, in coordination with Agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) executed search and arrest warrants on an apartment in the 100 block of Second Street in downtown Lewes which resulted in the seizure of Heroin, Methamphetamine, and cocaine.

The three-month-long joint investigation of drug sales also led to the arrest of Vincent J. Vecere, white male age 41, Melanie M. Warrington, white female age 31, and Naome D. Charles, a Hispanic female age 45, said Spell. All three arrested subjects were currently living in the apartment.

Upon searching the apartment, officers located approximately 47 grams of Methamphetamine, 324 packages containing Heroin, and 6 grams of cocaine. Additionally located were brass knuckles belonging to Vecere added Spell.

Vincent Vecere was arrested and charged with the following:

Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony, Class B Felony.
Manufacture/Delivery/Possession with the Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance in a Tier 3 Quantity (Methamphetamine), Class B Felony.
Manufacture/Delivery/Possession with the Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance in a Tier 2 Quantity (Heroin), Class C Felony.
Maintaining a Drug Property, Class F Felony.
Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Tier 1 Quantity (Cocaine), Class G Felony.
Conspiracy 2nd Degree, Class G Felony
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Class B Misdemeanor

His bail was set at $74,100 secured cash only and he was transported and committed to Sussex Correctional Institute.

Melanie Warrington was arrested and charged with the following:

Manufacture/Delivery/Possession with the Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance in a Tier 3 Quantity (Methamphetamine), Class B Felony.
Manufacture/Delivery/Possession with the Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance in a Tier 2 Quantity (Heroin), Class C Felony.
Maintaining a Drug Property, Class F Felony.
Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Tier 1 Quantity (Cocaine), Class G Felony.
Conspiracy 2nd Degree, Class G Felony
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Class B Misdemeanor

Warrington’s bail was set at $37,200 unsecured.

Naome Charles was arrested and charged with the following:

Manufacture/Delivery/Possession with the Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance in a Tier 3 Quantity (Methamphetamine), Class B Felony.
Manufacture/Delivery/Possession with the Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance in a Tier 2 Quantity (Heroin), Class C Felony.
Maintaining a Drug Property, Class F Felony.
Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Tier 1 Quantity (Cocaine), Class G Felony.
Conspiracy 2nd Degree, Class G Felony
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Class B Misdemeanor

Spell said in addition to these charges, Charles was found to be a Federal Probationer and had previously been arrested for drug and weapon offenses in another state. Her bail was set at $170,400 secured cash only and she was transported and committed to Sussex Correctional Institute.
