Police: Elsmere Man Charged With Pointing Gun At Woman During “Domestic Assault”

On Wednesday, March 31, 2021, Elsmere Police responded to the 900 block of Kirkwood Highway for a domestic dispute, according to officials.

While en route, officers were notified that a male subject was seen pointing a firearm at a female. Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that Joseph Wary, 30 of the 900 block of Kirkwood Highway, did assault a female victim and then pointed a gun at her, police said Thursday.

Wary was taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Menacing, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited, Possession of Ammunition by a Person Prohibited, Offensive Touching, and Disorderly Conduct.

He was committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $76,000 cash-only bail.
