Police Holding Murder Suspect On $10M Bail

Wilmington Police have arrested and charged a 32-year-old man in connection with a fatal shooting incident that took place on April 2, authorities said Tuesday.

On April 2 at approximately 9:01 p.m., police were called to the 200 block of West 19th Street in reference to a shooting incident that had occurred. Police located a 44-year-old male gunshot victim, who was transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. He was identified as Larry Porter.

The case was assigned to Detective Brandon Mosley of the Criminal Investigations Division. Through the course of his investigation, Detective Mosley identified 32-year-old Dean Sutton as a suspect in the incident, police said. Arrest warrants were obtained, and Sutton was taken into custody on April 13.

Sutton has been charged with the following offenses:
Murder (First Degree)
Attempted Murder (First Degree)
Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $10,159,999 cash-only bail.
