Biden Expected In Rehoboth Wednesday, Officials Confirm Gordons Pond Will Be Closed

All indications are that Biden will visit Rehoboth Beach tomorrow and leave on Friday.

Last week Marine helicopter pilots were observed practice their landings in the Gordons Pond parking area near Biden’s beach house.

This morning a notice went out alerting pilots and area airports that the airspace above Biden’s home would be restricted starting Wednesday afternoon.

At around 1:00 on Tuesday DNREC spokesman Michael Globetti released the following statement:

The Gordons Pond parking area, pavilion, beach area, and surf fishing vehicle crossing at the southern end of Cape Henlopen State Park will be closed on Wednesday, June 2 and on Friday, June 4 for a security event coordinated among local, state and federal authorities.

There will also be intermittent periods on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday when the southernmost portion of the Gordons Pond trail within the park will be closed.

The three days that Biden is expected to be in town will not interfere with any planned city events.
