Fiery Motorcycle Crash Sends Man To Hospital In Critical Condition Sunday

The Delaware State Police are investigating a motorcycle crash in Newark that left a man in critical condition Sunday.

At approximately 10:35 a.m., New Castle County Paramedics (NCCEMS), Christiana Fire Company, Aetna Hose Hook & Ladder Company of Newark, and Delaware State Police Aviation were dispatched to the intersection of South College Avenue and GBC Drive for a motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle, according to NCCEMS Assistant PIO Emily Mallon.

Mallon said upon arrival, New Castle County Paramedics found a single 65-year-old male patient. The man was treated on scene for possible head and internal injuries. He was transported to Christiana Hospital via Christiana Fire Company ambulance and was accompanied by New Castle County Paramedics, in critical condition.

Initial reports from the scene indicate the rider may have been thrown from the vehicle prior to it bursting into flames.

The crash closed Route 896 northbound while Troopers investigated the crash.
