Officials Release Details Surrounding Today’s Route 1 Crash

At approximately 3:02 p.m. the New Castle County Paramedics (NCCEMS), Odessa Fire Company, Townsend Fire Company, and Delaware State Police Aviation, were dispatched to Route 1 northbound, at the Appoquinimink River Bridge, for the report of a motor vehicle collision with rollover and possible entrapment, according to  NCCEMS Spokeswoman S/Sergeant Abigail Haas.

Hass said arriving rescue personnel and Paramedics found a pickup truck that had been towing an RV. For an unknown reason, the RV rolled over, however, the pickup remaining upright.

The 58-year-old driver of the pickup truck refused transport to the hospital. His passenger, a 55-year-old woman, was treated on scene by the Paramedics for minor injuries before she was transported to the Christiana Hospital in Stanton. She was listed in stable condition, said Hass.

The incident is being investigated by the Delaware State Police.
