13-Year-Old Boy Shot In The Back In Dover

The Dover Police Department is investigating a shooting incident that occurred on Sunday morning that left a 13-year-old boy with a minor injury to his back, according to Public Information Office Sergeant Mark Hoffman.

Hoffman said the incident occurred when an unknown black male suspect rang a doorbell to a residence in the 1200 Block of Harrison Drive. When the father answered the door, he observed the male suspect walking away. The male suspect turned and fired multiple rounds before fleeing the area. One of the rounds entered the home through an exterior wall, striking the 13-year-old in the back.

The round lost enough momentum as it penetrated the wall to only cause a minor laceration on the victim’s back, said Hoffman. The 13-year-old was treated and released for his injury at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital.
