Tree Service Worker Killed By Falling Tree In Newark Monday

Just before 1:00 Monday afternoon Newark Police, New Castle County EMS, and Aetna Hose, Hook, and Ladder Company (AHH&L) were dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of Walker Way in Newark for reports of an injured person.

Initial reports that a tree had fallen on a man were confirmed by first arriving crews from AHH&L. Shortly after their arrival crews reported that the man had succumbed to his injuries.

Newark Police Spokesman Andrew Rubin said the man, who was struck by a falling tree, was pronounced dead at the scene by New Castle County EMS.

” An investigation by Newark Police determined that two men, employed by a tree cutting service, were cutting down a tree in the backyard of the residence. One of the males was struck by a piece of the tree that fell as it was being cut and suffered fatal injuries.”, added Rubin.

The name of the man is being withheld as notification of next of kin is not complete.
