Troopers Release Details In Friday Night Shootings

Delaware State Police are investigating two shooting incidents that occurred Friday night in New Castle County that left two injured, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Heather Pepper.

Pepper said on July 30, 2021, at approximately 9:10 p.m., a 44-year-old male from Newark was operating his 2015 Harley-Davidson motorcycle southbound on Route 1 in the far-right lane, anticipating exiting onto Pulaski Highway. As he was driving, a black Kia-style sedan with tinted windows pulled next to him, and both passenger side windows rolled down. Two male suspects then began shooting multiple rounds at the victim from the vehicle before it exited Route 1 onto Pulaski Highway. The victim came to a controlled stop on the west shoulder of Route 1 southbound, just north of Pulaski Highway.

Rescue crews transported the man to an area hospital where he was treated for multiple gunshot wounds that are non-life-threatening, according to Pepper.
The suspects are described as males. They were sitting in the passenger front and rear seat of a black Kia-style sedan with tinted windows.

Prior to the shooting, the victim attended bike night at Crab Du Jour, located at 1000 Churchmans Road in Newark.

Approximately 45 minutes later, a report of a second shooting came in at Crab Du Jour. A 31-year-old Middletown man was attending bike night at the establishment. As he was sitting on a bar chair in the south parking lot of the restaurant, numerous motorcycles drove eastbound on Churchmans Road, passing Crab Du Jour. As the motorcycles went by, an unknown number of suspects fired approximately 30 rounds toward the restaurant and parking lot area. The victim was struck once and sustained a minor injury. He was also transported to an area hospital for treatment.

An unoccupied vehicle parked in the area of the Crab Du Jour and an occupied vehicle traveling westbound on Churchmans Road were struck by projectiles during the shooting. No one was injured when the vehicles were hit said Pepper.

On Saturday Troopers closed the left lane of Route 1 SB in the area of the first shooting. Officials did not say if that was part of the ongoing investigation.May be an image of car and road
