County Police Investigating Fatal Crash Involving A Motorcycle, Road Closed

New Castle County Division of Police is investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle.

Police said earlier this morning, Aug 24, at approximately 5:50 a.m., patrol officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the intersection of Moore’s Lane at Pierson Place for the report of a motorcycle crash.

When the officers arrived at the scene, they learned that a 19-year-old female, driving a black Toyota Corolla, was traveling southbound on Moore’s Lane. At the intersection of Moore’s Lane at Pierson Place, the driver of the Corolla turned left onto Pierson Place. She was then struck by a 2005 Harley Davidson Softail Motorcycle ridden by a 29-year-old man police said.

The 19-year-old driver remained at the scene and was interviewed by the officers. She was then transported to a local area hospital where she was treated and released for minor injuries. The motorcycle operator identified as Seth Hoffman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators from The New Castle County Division of Police Traffic Services Unit then arrived at the scene and assumed the investigation. While the investigation is still in its early stages, the investigators have revealed that impairment does not appear to be a factor.

New Castle County Police are currently investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle on Moores Lane in New Castle.

At around 5:45 Tuesday morning rescue crews were dispatched to the intersection of Moore’s Lane and Pierson Place for reports of a motor vehicle accident involving a motorcycle.

While en route crews learned that the rider was seriously injured. A subsequent report alerted responding crews that police were on scene reporting the rider had succumbed to their injuries.

Moores Lane remains closed at this time due to the police investigation.
