Man In His 20s In Critical Condition After Being Struck By Train In Newark

Just after 11:10, Saturday evening rescue crews from Aetna Hose Hook and Ladder Company and New Castle County Paramedics (NCCEMS) were dispatched to North College Avenue and the CSX railroad tracks in Newark for reports a pedestrian struck.

While en route crews learned that the patient had been struck by a train. First arriving fire department personnel located a man in his twenties suffering from serious injuries according to NCCEMS PIO S/Sergeant Abigail Haas.

The patient had serious injuries to his extremities, a possible head injury, and possible internal injuries. He was transported to Christiana Hospital in critical condition.

North College Avenue was closed for approximately three hours, between West Main Street and East Cleveland Avenue, while Newark Police investigated the incident.
