Troopers Looking For Newark-Area Carjackers

Newark – The Delaware State Police are investigating a carjacking that took place at the Shell gas station early Saturday morning, according to Public Information Officer, Senior Corporal Jason Hatchell.

Hatchell said the incident occurred at approximately 1:43 a.m., Saturday, October 9, 2021, at the gas pump of the Shell located at 2410 Pulaski Highway, Newark. A 56-year-old female victim parked her gray 2018 Dodge Durango at the gas pump when a white sedan occupied by four suspects in masks pulled behind her vehicle. Two suspects exited the vehicle and approached the victim demanding her car keys. The victim’s keys were inside of her purse which was inside the vehicle. When the victim went to retrieve her purse, one suspect entered the vehicle through the passenger side and a struggled ensued. The victim was able to pry her purse away and gave the suspect her car keys. The two suspects then entered the Durango and fled southbound Glasgow Avenue.

The suspects were described as four black males all wearing dark clothing and masks.
