Troopers: Man Sitting In His Car Gunned Down Late Saturday

Delaware State Police are conducting a homicide investigation in connection with a shooting that occurred Saturday night, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Heather Pepper.

Pepper said on October 2, 2021, at approximately 10:09 p.m., troopers were dispatched to the 3800 block of Governor Printz Blvd. in Wilmington for a reported shooting. Upon arrival, troopers located a 63-year-old Wilmington man in the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Identification is pending notification to next of kin.

Pepper said the victim parked his vehicle in the median strip of Governor Printz Blvd. and entered a nearby liquor store to make a purchase. As he returned to his car and sat in the driver seat, an unknown suspect approached the vehicle and fired multiple rounds at the victim before fleeing on foot.

There is currently no suspect information available.
