Woman Critically Injured In Townsend Crash Friday, 13 Closed

At approximately 5:31 a.m. the New Castle County Paramedics (NCCEMS), the Townsend Fire Company, Volunteer Hose Company, and Delaware State Police Helicopter were dispatched to Summit Bridge Road and Dupont Parkway for the report of a two-vehicle collision with possible entrapment, according to NCCEMS Spokeswoman S/Sergeant Abigail Haas.

Haas said Emergency personnel arrived on scene to find a two-vehicle collision with two persons injured.

An approximately 40 year old female operator of a sedan was found with a head and extremity injuries. She was treated on scene by the New Castle County Paramedics, before she was flown to the Christian Hospital, in Stanton, aboard State Police Helicopter. The woman was in critical condition at the time of her transport.

A 60-year-old male driver of a pickup truck was evaluated on scene by the Kent County Paramedics, before ultimately refusing transport to the hospital.

Route 13 SB remains closed at this time while Delaware State Police investigate the incident.
