Newark Elementary School Defaced With Graffiti Friday

Newark Police are investigating an incident that left a local elementary school defaced with graffiti.

Photos provided to FSU by a man that walks his dogs near Downes Elementary School every morning depict what appears to be a series of buzz phrases that can be found on social media.

The man, who did not what to be identified, said that he drives over to the school in the morning to let his dogs run in the open field. “I was shocked to see the school trashed like that.”  said the man.

The phrases End Hate, Love is Love, Black Lives Matter, Make Pot Legal, End Jeish Hate, Gay Pride, and a picture of penis were spray-painted on the exterior of the school.

Radio traffic indicates that police responded to the school Friday night to investigate a criminal mischief report.
