Three Allentown Men Charged With Identity Theft, Released On Unsecured Bond

Newark Police have charged three Allentown men with charges relating to identity theft.

Officials said just before 3:45 Wednesday afternoon, Newark Police responded to the area of Sypherd Drive and Old Oak Road for a report of a suspicious vehicle. The caller reported that occupants of the vehicle threw away Amazon packaging in their trashcan and the vehicle was following behind an Amazon truck.

Responding officers located the suspicious vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.  During the stop  officers found new and unopened electronic devices in the vehicle, officials said Friday.

Further investigation determined that a package containing electronics had been ordered using the specific name of a victim, and delivered to the victim’s address on Sunset Road, using a fraudulent account opened in the victim’s name, according to police. The suspects were then able to remove the package from the victim’s residence without them knowing.

Newark Police arrested the three occupants of the vehicle without incident and transported them to Newark Police headquarters. The occupants were identified as:

Deyvi Rodriguez-Reynoso, 27, of Allentown, PA – $5,000 unsecured bail
Joniel Toribio, 26, of Allentown, PA – $5,200 unsecured bail
Adolfo Garcia-Rivera, 19, of Allentown, PA – $5,100 unsecured bail

They were each charged with one count of Identity Theft and one count of Theft Over $1,500. All three suspects appeared before Justice of the Peace Court #11 by video and were released on unsecured bail as indicated above.
