Troopers Investigating Wawa Armed Robbery In New Castle

Delaware State Police are investigating the robbery of a New Castle area convenience store, according to Public Information Officer, Senior Corporal Jason Hatchell.

Hatchell said at approximately 3:00 Thursday morning, December 30, 2021, troopers responded to the Wawa, located at 1400 Beaver Brook Plaza in New Castle, for an armed robbery. The investigation determined a male suspect entered the store and confronted an employee behind the sales counter. The suspect displayed a handgun and demanded money from the cash register, according to Hatchell. The employee complied and the suspect then approached the store manager who was standing behind a second cash register. The suspect demanded money from the three remaining cash registers and the safe added Hatchell. The manager complied and the suspect fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash through a rear business door. The suspect was last seen running towards the Beaver Brook Apartments.

The suspect was described as a white male approximately 40 years of age, 6’ tall, wearing all dark clothing, a mask, and a baseball hat.
