Self-Storage Robbed By Armed Gunman Friday

Troopers are investigating a robbery of a Wilmington-area self-storage business that occurred Friday afternoon, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Gary Fournier.

Fournier said the incident took place around 5:40 p.m., Friday, January 14, 2022, at the Sentinel Self Storage (333 E. Lea Boulevard) as a male subject confronted an employee in the office of the business. The suspect was armed with an unknown type of handgun and demanded money from the safe said Fournier. The employee complied with the demands and turned over an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing the store on foot. The employee was not injured in the incident.

The suspect was described as a black male, 20-35 years of age, 6’00” – 6’02” tall, wearing all black clothing and a mask covering his face. He was armed with an unknown type handgun.
