Mass Casualty Incident Declared After Crash Injures Six Sunday

Just after 12:45, Sunday morning rescue crews from the Little Creek and Leipsic Volunteer Fire Companies, along with Kent County Medics, EMS 63, and Delaware State Police were alerted to a vehicle accident in the 700 block of Pickering Beach Road, just east of Dover Air Force Base.

Responding crews learned that the accident involved six patients with at least two seriously injured.

First arriving confirmed that six patients were injured. That report prompted Kent Center to alert Bayhealth Kent General Hospital in Dover that a Level 1 Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) had been declared.

Initial reports from the scene indicate that a truck rolled several times injuring several young people.

At least three of the patients were transported to Kent General for their injuries.

This is a developing story.
