Lee Murphy Calls On Congress To Suspend Gas Tax, Open Up Pipeline

Lee Murphy today called on Congress to immediately suspend the federal gas tax as part of the response to runaway gas prices.

“We need an ‘all-of-the-above’ energy policy to ensure that Americans don’t need to depend on countries like Russia or Venezuela. The United States should be an energy exporter. In fact, we were a net-exporter until January 21, 2021, when Joe Biden set us on the course towards $5 a gallon gas and higher oil and even electricity prices.

Joe Biden should rescind his executive order killing the Keystone XL pipeline. Congress should pass a federal gas tax holiday. And then we should have a real conversation about an energy policy that isn’t contingent on the whims of Vladimir Putin or Joe Biden’s campaign promises to ‘phase out fossil fuels.’”
