Large Gathering In Dover Over The Weekend Ends With Man Being Shot

The Dover Police Department is investigating a shooting that left a 29-year-old Dover man wounded on Saturday morning according to Public Information Officer Sergeant Mark Hoffman.

Hoffman said Officers responded to the area of Irish Mike’s at 107 Loockerman Street after receiving a call for shots fired. When officers arrived, they located the male victim in front of 8 Loockerman Street bank with gunshot wounds to both upper legs. Officers immediately rendered aid to the victim until emergency medical personnel arrived and transported the victim to Bayhealth Kent Campus where he remains hospitalized.

Officers located a trail of blood from the front sidewalk of Irish Mike’s to where the victim was located in front of Citizen’s Bank. Video surveillance showed a large disorderly crowd on South Bradford Street just north of W. Loockerman St. at approximately 12:47 am. At approximately 12:52, the crowd dispersed quickly. At approximately 12:54, there was a small group of people in front of Irish Mikes that quickly dispersed, which may have been a result of shots being fired. During this incident, the victim is observed running away in the direction of Citizen’s Bank where he was found by officers.
