Photos: Firefighters Battle Greenville Apartment Fire Wednesday Morning

Firefighters from across New Castle County along with crews from Chester County, Pennsylvania respond to a Greenville apartment fire on Wednesday morning.

At 11:15 rescue crews were dispatched to the Greenville Place Apartments in the 100 block of Congressional Drive for reports of a balcony on fire.

As crews arrived on scene they reported heavy smoke showing from the back of the building.  A subsequent report reported heavy fire.

Crews began their attack on the fire while simultaneously searching for possible victims inside the two-story apartment building.

As crews worked to knock the fire on the first and second floors they reported fire in the attic.  Initial reports from the scene indicate that no victims were found inside the building during the searches.

The fire was placed under control by Cranston Heights Command at 11:57 am with units working. Crews remaining on scene for overhaul.

Investigators with the Delaware Fire Marshal’s Office are on scene investigating the cause of the fire.
